Submitting Your Article to EzineArticles.com

As article marketing is one of the best ways of generating website traffic, the actual article submission procedure is a very important part of gaining success from your article. In this post I am going to explain about the submitting procedure at EzineArticles.com – probably the leading article directory.

Before you submit your article you should have gone through the ‘preparing for submission’ process, this is basically proofreading and ‘cleaning up the copy’.

In order to submit an article to EzineArticles.com you will need an account at this article directory. If you don’t have one see Article Submission: a New Account. Once you have logged in you will need to go to the ‘New Article’ page. This page can be found via the link below the ‘Log Out’ option at the top right hand corner of the page that comes up once you have logged in.

Each of the things that needs to be done for the article submission is clearly laid out on the page, so you cannot easily miss part of it. There is also an audio explanation to each step.

On the new article page the first thing you have to do is to choose the category you want your article to be in from the drop down menu, as well as the sub-category. The many options that are given range from ‘Computers-and-Technology’ to ‘Shopping-and-Product-Reviews’. Please note if your article is internet business related it should go in the category ‘Internet & Businesses Online’ category or sub-category, not the ‘business’ category.

Similarly, articles related to home-based businesses should go in the ”Home Based Business’ category and not the ‘Business’ category. After you have chosen the category and sub-category that is most closely related to your article topic you will need to copy and paste the article’s title into the ‘Article Title’ box. Remember your title should be keyword rich, see Keyword Suggestion Tools for ways to find high ranked keywords. You are only allowed 100 characters for your title.

The next thing to do is to type the keywords for your article into the keywords box. These are the words that people will use to search for your article at the search engines. When typing the keywords into the box, remember to separate each word or phrase by a comma.

You have to provide a summary for your article. This is a short paragraph about the article that will be displayed with the title in the list of articles that a viewer may have done a search for. The article summary has a word limit of 200 words, and should be around two to five sentences long. Normally the first paragraph of the article works perfectly well for the article summary.

Next, you will need to copy and paste the article into the ‘Article Body’ box. There is a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 5,000 words, though a good number to aim for is around 400-750 words in the article body. There are some HTML tags allowed in the article body, these include bolding, italics and underline.

The next thing to do is the author bio or resource box. This is where you give a short paragraph about the author and where the readers can get more information. This is where you put the links to your site. You must include the http:// at the start of the web address for the link to work. You are allowed a maximum of 4 links, but only 2 to a website you own or are promoting. There is a maximum of 300 words for the author bio box.

Now you are ready to preview your article; there is an option to spell check in preview. Once you are ready you can submit the article to EzineArticles.com where it will be queued for approval. You will need to click the box below the ‘Submit This Article’ to say you agree to the terms and conditions of EzineArticles.com.

You have now submitted your article! It will take up to 7 days for your article to be reviewed, and if it is accepted, published at EzineArticles.com.
