There’s a very informative and easy to follow video from Dave Patterson below, explaining a good method to submit your web site to the top SEO friendly web directories.
The only thing I would add to his ‘submit to directories’ method is that I would vary the title and description text a little for each submission. The way to do this is to use Roboform as he suggests, but once this piece of software has entered your details into the relevant fields in the directory page, you can then easily alter the text a little, changing a word or two for something similar, adding an extra sentence and so on.
However, this freedom applies more to the description than to the title. Be very careful with the title that you are including your main keyword phrase unaltered for the web page you are linking to (normally the index page of your site, when submitting to directories).
For example, if your main keyword phrase is “Deciduous Trees of Europe” (remember to research this at WordTracker) then you would use variations of this plus other added words for your title at different directories. Such variations to be used at different directories could be, for example: Deciduous Trees of Europe Explained, Deciduous Trees of Europe and How to Grow Them, Deciduous Trees from Europe Discovered.
You get the idea. Note that it is best to keep the keyword phrase at the beginning of the title. Also note that in the last example I altered the keyword phrase just a little — do this just occasionally to give a more natural variation across directories.
